Due to the great success and the ever increasing size of the Pumpkin Walk, it is with great sadness that this event will be moved to the Agrena Sports Grounds in Barrhead this year. Thank you to the Co-op and all of the other businesses that have participated in this amazing event for letting us be the host of this walk for the last 10 years. We hope that your new area will allow you to continue growing and to keep making the Pumpkin Walk the success that it is. Best Wishes and Happy Halloween!
Special thanks to Shawn and Penny Stephani from Stephani Motors Ltd. Barrhead for taking these aerial photos for us. And the most amazing thing is, these were taken the Saturday afternoon following the big wind cleanup that happened Aug 24 2017 This picture shows the pile of broken branches hauled to this spot on the edge of the 4th fairway , waiting for the Town of Barrhead to come and chip up. During this 2017-2018 winter the Town of Barrhead has been in and cleaned up all of our excess branches and leaf piles. Thanks to the Town of Barrhead for this.
August 24 2017 This is what we woke up to this morning. A pleading call for help was put on Facebook and a few calls were made. At the end of the day with volunteer help from non members Calvin Bach, John Dodson and Rick Bridgeman, members Tasha Carins, Henry Lappin, his wife, Allan Corke, Devon and Degon Hennesy, Off duty staff Crystal Dodson, On duty staff Mariet Kosterbok, Ralph Badry, Tracy Pess, Eden, Jeanie Rolof, board directors Norm Simpson and Brett Schultz. Thanks to this great team our course was ready for the Legion tournament Saturday morning.
We also would like to thank the Town of Barrhead for coming on Monday to chop up and remove all of the broken limbs, branches and leaves. Topanga Kosterbok was only 13 years old on July 19th, 2012. I imagine the feelings she felt, when she teed up on the 5th hole, and watched her ball flying straight and true toward the pin. The excitement of not knowing how close you really are because you can't see the green from any tee box on the 5th. Topanga, like her mother preferred to play from the men's tee's and there is a narrow channel between the trees and on top of the hill sand trap. The feeling coming over the crest of the hill, surprise it's not on the green, possible disappointment, did it roll off the back side? And finally as she walks to the hole utter glee as she see's her ball in the hole Congrats Topanga!
